Red wine spill? We have the answers you are looking for!
If you are reading this in a response to a red wine spill, you are probably already too late for a home remedy! You can certainly try, you will need soda water and a towel quickly! When a beverage that contains red is spilled onto carpet or upholstery, the red dyes sets in very fast. Sometimes you only have a minute or two to get up as much of the
stain
as possible before you will require a very different approach to remove the stain. You will need to apply soda water to the affected area and extract. A wet/dry vacuum works best for the extraction. You must act quickly in order for this to work. The reason for the rush? The dye spots that already exist in your carpet, those that you chose when you picked the color of your carpet, are the dye spots that the red dye will now absorb into, oftentimes making removal through another means necessary. If this doesn't work, and you need a professional, don't put any other products on the stain as this can reduce the likelihood of a professional being able to remove the stain! Fortunately there are some professional grade carpet products that will in most case remove red wine stains. Some of these products will require that you use an iron with a white towel for the "heat transfer method". Others will use a steam only process with their product. Both will work well for the removal of removal of these stains. Any product that is red can contain the dyes that require a fast reaction time. Try to keep these types of products from carpeted areas in order to avoid red stains!
