Removing Wax from your Carpet or Upholstery!

The first step to wax removal from your carpet or upholstery is to remove as much of the wax as possible with a dull edge knife or other instrument. A butter knife works very well.

After you have removed the excess wax. Set an iron to it's lowest heat setting. I recommend an old iron for this task! Apply a thick towel (one layer) to the spot. Put the iron on top of the towel and let the heat from the iron soften the wax, allowing for it's absorption into the towel. After the wax has had a chance to heat and start absorbing, periodically move the towel to a different area for continued absorption.

Colored wax can leave a stain in the carpet as it has the dye in it that attaches itself to existing dye fibers. A color dye removal treatment may be necessary.

You can use brown paper in place of a towel, such as a grocery store brown paper back. Make sure though that you choose an area with no coloring or print as this can cause a dye transfer that you don't intend. Never let the iron touch the carpet or sit longer than 30 seconds.
